Zillow: LGBT Homebuyers Getting Priced Out of Areas That Can Provide Legal Protections Against Housing Discrimination
According to a new report from Zillow, LGBT homebuyers and renters are having to pay a premium if they want to live in an area that affords them legal protections against housing discrimination. These protections include “being evicted, denied housing or refused the ability to rent or buy housing based on sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Home prices are going up, rising at an annualized rate of 4.5 percent in May 2020 from April 2020, according to the latest Radian Home Price Index (HPI). Year-over-year from May, the Radian HPI increased 7.8 percent—a little lower than the 7.9 percent reported last month.
